My cadalic sts 1998 has been overheating very quickly?

we put some kind of sealant in it and it worked all year but now it is overheating again, one guy who said he looked at it said the head was cracked and not to bother fixing it ,I only need the car to run around town ,less then 5-10 mile a day. what can we do ?
