Why did my teacher have to say this?

That is completely wrong for an educator to undermine her students! I'm so sorry this happened to you. This is exactly why students don't speak up in class. It's impossible to learn when you don't feel comfortable. I would advise you to write a letter to your principal / dean / VP explaining the situation. Good luck!
