4.3 s10 blazer manifold tear down leading to no start!! HELP ASAP!??!?!?!?
Rough idle and choking led to the fuel lines in the plentum leaking back into the intake. in order to replace i had to pull the lower manifold to get to the stripped star head that held the retaining plate for the lines. in the head gasket kit came the head gaskets, a small round blue gasket for the distributor stem, and also a bigger round grey gasket. i thought this gasket to be from a different model bc i couldn't place it anywhere in the engine to fit so i set it aside. After rebuild, during clean up i found the old gasket. it seems to be a coolant gasket due to the slight green and white crust build up but my coolant holes in the manifold are small, square, and already covered by the header gasket. same same. so i need to place where this gasket goes. second. after rebuild i have no start. i figure electrical as i replaced the spark plugs during tear down. also when i placed the distributor stem, the lip wouldn't seat flush on the manifold and seal vacuum. the rotor was pointing at 6 when i pulled it, 1 starting at SE facing the vehicle front. the stem does seat flush when the rotor it pointing at 1. i have it at TDC. im pretty sure at the compression stroke. i haven't checked for spark yet. its new wires, plugs, cap and rotor. so in conclusion, im pretty sure im minus a gasket somewhere and i have a big issue w combustion. ive had to tear it down a few times trying to retrace my steps on the gasket so i know my rtv sealant bead is tight against the manifold. no vacuum leaks. what do i do?? im stumped scratching my head, staring down this beast that's been sitting in my driveway for weeks and it needs to get moving before i get some kind of ticket. ive put a lot of time and money trying to address the rich burn and rough idle also cosmetics so pls help before i kick it to the curb :(( see old question and thread for any more details. thanks.
