I need help guys, caulk sealant?
Hey everyone. I'm 20. About 8 months ago, I used caulk to seal an area along my bedroom wall. It was "DAP Kwik Seal Plus" Kitchen & Bath. I used about a 5 foot long bead, maybe 1/2 inch in width (I didn't know this was a large amount until after). It offgassed & I had to open a window. I'm a home-body, so I spend alot of time in my bedroom, probably 3/4 of the time I'm home. I'm guessing the VOC's offgassed, and permiated all the fabrics in my room. My bedding smelled of it, my window curtains, and clothes that were left out. I've been depressed about this for awhile, and I have OCD which makes it 600x worse. I'm worried that by breathing in the fumes (even with the windows open) that I've seriously messed myself up. I haven't experienced any ill symptoms, which I think might be a good sign because if I was in danger, wouldn't the symptoms show themselves? Even though it's been 8 months, I still feel as though I myself smell of these set-in fumes, as my clothes & bedding. I feel as though the smell has become a part of me, and I cannot get away from it. The reason I sealed the space along the wall was because my family smokes downstairs, and I was getting an aweful draft. Sad thing is, the anxiety this problem's caused has me back to smoking again. I'm just concerned guys. Can anyone weigh in? Is caulk really that toxic? It almost had a fresh-paint type smell while it dried. Thank you very much, and have a great day!
